Develops, designs, and implements systems that automate manufacturing, internal logistic and warehousing processes including software and hardware providing digital and physical solutions to automation problems to improve among other primarily efficiency, productivity, quality and On-time delivery.
Collaborates closely with production and supply chain management, workshop management team and value stream engineers / managers in charge of production line as well as LEAN and Facility Management to align & synchronize automation potential & efforts with overall plant target & operations strategies.
Leads collaborative discussions between leadership and key stakeholders to determine automation strategy, capabilities and goals, e.g. including design for automation workshops.
Gathers production data for automation project execution incl. methods-time measurement.
Creates detailed automation road map including derivation of automation projects from conception to final implementation including project planning (ROI, CAPEX, etc.) and execution, e.g. along simulation / optimization of production process flows, value stream analysis (VSM & VSD), etc.
Oversees, consults and supports automation projects of relevant departments and personnel.
Designs solutions to ensure the quality and stability of automation systems and support existing automation technology through future expansions, replacements, or component and process upgrades.
On the floor troubleshooting support of manufacturing activities.
Coordinates and manages suppliers to implement automation projects smoothly and efficiently.
Supports and facilitates the communication with group HQ, understand and implement the overall automation strategy of the group in collaboration and alignment with management team.
Participates in audits and training programs in the area of responsibility.
Trains and supports responsible manufacturing engineers and other colleagues in charge of operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or above in mechanical manufacturing and automation or related majors (e.g. electrical engineering, computer science, etc.).
Min. 5 years hands-on & conceptual experience in the design & implementation of various automation systems in the mechanical manufacturing industry including automation strategy roadmap, project planning & implementation, process management, commissioning, evaluation, etc.
Ideally with hands-on programming and trouble-shooting skills for automation, instrumentation and IT systems including hardware and software solutions.
Experience and ability with software testing and validation.
Proficient in the use of multiple software applications that include Word, Excel, and others.
Proficient in the use of computer-aided design software such as SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD, Siemens Plant Simulate or Visual Components.
Familiarity with English listening, speaking, reading and writing
Familiarity with a variety of control systems, including PLC, SCADA, and Allen-Bradley systems.
Familiarity with me
Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and ergonomic principles.
Experience in intelligent & smart manufacturing.
Understands and supports all current Manufacturing Principles, safety, and environmental regulations.
Ability to coordinate with outside suppliers and external business partners in terms of automation tasks & solutions.
Mechanically inclined, strong problem-solving skills, hands-on individual with strong organizational and project management skills.
