Role Purpose:
Calix IAE (Intelligent Access Edge) dev group is going to accelerate our Virtualized AXOS software product (AXOS-Sandbox). You will be working closely with IAE product dev team, architecting, designing, and implementing control-plane and data-plane software Ｏn our virtual product. You will also improve and contribute to infrastructure of virtual product, support the large-scale deployment/upgrade of our Virtual AXOS systems Ｏn the Cloud/VM.
Besides the network virtualization, we will also design & develop Intent-based Access Network, to provide end-to-end Service Orchestration, Networking Automation, Proactive Network Monitoring, and can turn Operational Data into Actionable Intelligence .

Responsibilities:
You will be part of a flexible team that builds AXOS Intelligent Access Edge solution. We have a commitment to code quality, open discussion, and productivity.
In this highly challenging role, you will:
- Explore latest industry virtualization data forwarding technologies, evaluate PoC (proof of concept) Ｏn Calix IAE virtualization product, and contribute to roadmap.
- Design and implement high performance forward model to align with all data services (L2/L3/MPLS/VPN/SR/BNG/PON etc.) in Calix IAE products.
- Lead the development of features from concept to product.
- Analyze requirements and write functional spec for new features and capabilities.
- Write high level and detailed design documentation for new features.
- Develop and maintain code and conduct unit test.
- Guide functional test and automation team to manual test and develop automation for new features.
- Conduct peer code reviews.
- Troubleshoot, fix defects, and support issues arising from testers/field.
- Analyze system scalability and interworking issues, improve system & data forwarding performance.
- Mentor junior engineers in the team.

Qualifications:
- Calix requires all employees who will work Ｏnsite at a Calix office, attend in-person meetings, and/or travel Ｏn behalf of Calix to be fully vaccinated. Calix will consider requests for reasonable accommodations as required under applicable law.
- 12 years C / C / python / Golang / OCaml, bash experience in Linux/embedded environment. Proficient in programming in a multi-thread/multi-process environment
- Solid knowledge and experience of data forwarding model design in OVS.
- Solid knowledge and experience of other virtual data plane software like VPP, DPDK, XDP, etc.
- Familiar with x86 emulation including x86 architecture, system bring-up, and HW emulation (CPU, memory, storage, network, power, sensors).
- Working experience and open-source involvement in QEMU, KVM, SR-IOV, Virtio and kernel.
- Hands Ｏn experience in designing and developing software with hypervisor, virtual machines or containerization (e.g., VMWare, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.).
- Understanding of L2, L3 (IP routing, MPLS, VPN etc.) forwarding model.
- Excellent analytical and integration skills.
- Strong sense of ownership for all assignments and areas of responsibility plus a drive to continuously improve tools, methodology and process.
- Be innovative and lateral in thought, a solutions thinker.
- BS CS (or equivalent) required.
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of Ethernet L2 related protocols like DHCP, MacFF, IPSV, IGMP, G.8032, LACP etc.
- Knowledge of L3 related protocols like IGP, BGP, MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, BFD, Segment-routing, EVPN etc.
- Knowledge of SDN, SDWAN, OpenFlow, etc.
- Experience with large complex telecom multi-card systems.
